PEBP OPEN ENROLLMENT FOR HEALTH INSURANCE
(PPO AND HMO)
May 1, 2008 to May 31, 2008 will be the Open Enrollment period for the Public Employees Benefits Program (PEBP). Open Enrollment provides you with the opportunity to review your healthcare options and make changes to your Plan. This is the time to learn about any plan/premium changes, add or delete dependents and while you can make these changes at any time, it is also an ideal time to add or make changes to the supplemental products offered through the Nevada System of Higher Education.
Open Enrollment packets were sent out by PEBP in the 3rd week of April. If you did not receive an Open Enrollment packet in the mail by May 1, 2008, please contact the PEBP office at (775) 684-7000 or (800)326-5496.
Additionally, to supplement the written materials you can learn more about the plan changes and visit each vendors by attending the PEBP Open Enrollment Meetings. For your convenience, a meeting will be held at the Student Union, room 208, at UNLV on May 22 at 1:00 p.m. For a complete schedule of Open Enrollment Meetings and to review the complete summary of benefit changes and premium rates, please visit the PEBP web site at www.pebp.state.nv.us. Vendors will be available on May 22 at UNLV from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m in Room 207 (University Vendors) and Room 208 (PEBP Vendors)..
Once complete, Open Enrollment forms need to be received in the UNLV Human Resources Office/4505 S Maryland Pkwy/Las Vegas, NV, 89154-1026 by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2008. On-line enrollment is not available this year.
NSHE FLEXIBLE SPENDING PLAN (SECTION 125)
OPEN ENROLLMENT
The NSHE flexible spending plan Open Enrollment is May 1, 2008 through June 30, 2008 and is administered by ASI Flex. The NSHE Flexible Spending Plan (Section 125) is NOT administered by the State of Nevada. Please do not fill out the State Flexible Spending Accounts forms or declination of coverage forms. If you wish to participate in the NSHE Section 125 Flexible Spending Plan, forms can be downloaded from the hr.unlv.edu website or contact your HR office during this open enrollment period.
A Flexible Spending Account (FSA) is a special bank account for your healthcare and dependent care (childcare) expenses. Using an FSA has one big advantage - it helps save you money. Every dollar contributed to an FSA is never taxed, which means you keep the 24 - 40% that is usually withheld on that money. Participating is simple; you make contributions through convenient payroll deductions spread evenly across the year. And then use your FSA money to pay for any healthcare or dependent care expenses not covered by your insurance plan.
Using your FSA money is also easy with the ASI debit card that works just like a typical bank card. Just present the card anywhere Master Card is accepted and the amount is automatically deducted from your FSA. You can pay for your co-pay, co-insurance, and prescriptions using this card. Please note that the debit card may not work at pharmacies within grocery or department stores. Some stores have instituted a smart card reader system that differentiates between an FSA eligible charge and a non-FSA eligible charge. Here is a list of stores that currently have that system in place - http://www.sig-is.org/en/documents/SIGIS_Merchant_List.pdf
You can also monitor your account via secure access at www.asiflex.com. You can log on and review your entire transaction history, report a lost or stolen card, and print a statement at any time.
And this easy savings tool only costs $3.50 to $5.00 per month to use depending on the plan you choose. Your tax savings will easily outnumber this low fee!
If you want to learn more, representatives from ASI will be available on May 22 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. at the Student Union Room 208.
