SOCIAL SECURITY
UNLV employees do not pay into Social Security. Instead, all university employees participate in mandatory retirement plans. If you are eligible to receive Social Security benefits from employment through other employers, your Social Security Benefit may be reduced by the pension benefit that you receive from the University. This is called the Windfall Elimination Provision.

MEDICARE
Mandatory medicare contributions of $1.45% are withheld from your total gross wages. These contributions are matched by the UNLV

UNEMPLOYMENT
UNLV is a covered employer under Nevada's Unemployment Laws. For more information regarding eligibility for unemployment benefits, please visit the NV Department of Training and Rehabilitation website at: detr.state.nv.us

WORKERS COMPENSATION
UNLV employees are covered by Workers' Compensation. Workers' Compensation benefits include payments for medical expenses, disability compensation, and death benefits in event that an employee sustains an injury or is killed due to a work related accident. UNLV Workers' Compensation program is handled by the University's Risk Management and Safety Department.
