NEW SW REGION REPRESENTATIVE

Karen introduced our new SW Region representative, Dr. Marion Boenheim. Marion serves as the Director of UCCSN HR and was elected by the chapter board. The board felt that Marion would be an excellent representative for our chapter. She has previously been involved with CUPA-HR throughout her career. Thank you, Marion, for accepting the appointment and we’re looking forward to your representation.

WELCOME OF NEW CHAPTER MEMBERS

Karen and the chapter welcomed three new members from the University of Nevada, School of Medicine. They are Feride McAlpine, Terri Rogers, and Anita Prince. We’re looking forward to their involvement, input and ideas to continue the success of our chapter. Welcome!

PROGRAM COMMITTEE REPORT

The program committee has been working hard to plan for the one-day seminar in March titled "Preventing Violence in the Workplace". The seminar is designed not only for HR professionals, but also for anyone who is interested in preventing violence in the workplace. So far, we have 40 registrants. Please pass on the registration form to anyone who you think may be interested. The registration form is found on-line at: http://hr.unlv.edu/NV_CUPA/Spring_Seminar_2002.html

We have almost $2,000 in pledged sponsorships and many entities have donated other items. Three sponsors qualified to have exhibit booths, Coca Cola has donated 5 cases of product, Starbucks has donated three gift baskets, and other sponsors have agreed to donate different items to make our program a success.

Michele agreed to contact her benefits vendors. Karen will provide Barbara Taylor from the Southwest region an update about our conference in a few weeks.

If anyone has leads for potential sponsors or donors, please contact Matt Garland at garland@ccmail.nevada.edu.

If anyone is interested in volunteering at the seminar, please contact Karen Emptage at (702) 895-2664.

Marlies will follow-up with reminder e-mails to potential registrants.
