Diana DeSimone reported that the Roadrunner Committee has completed their work and will submit the name of the Nevada CUPA recipient to the Southwestern Region Chair. The award will be presented at the SW CUPA Conference in Snowbird UT. The regional will be from May 12 through 14.
Debra Olson reminder everyone that nominations are currently being sought for 1997-98 NV CUPA Officers. Self-nominations are encouraged. Elections will take place prior to the final meeting of the semester. Each campus will have one vote.
VALIC and CUPA National are sponsoring a satellite program entitled "Retirement Ahead: Save Now" The program will be available at no charge in both the north and south. Preliminary numbers show that 80+ have signed up in the north and 35+ have signed up in the south. VALIC will be on site to assist with questions after the program. VALIC will also be providing a box-lunch to participants in Nevada.
Robin Freestone reviewed activities on the program seminar. The topic is Mediating Conflict and the proposed presenter is Bill Buchanan, a certified mediator trainer. The presentation will center around the "Five Steps of Mediating Conflict". The charge for the speaker will be in the $50 - 75 / hour range. It is anticipated the session will run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with lunch being provided on-site. Early August is looking like a potential time for the seminar. Most likely the session will occur on a Friday to allow participants from Las Vegas to fly up in the morning and return that evening. More discussion will occur at the Spring Meeting.
