Minutes from July 13, 1993 Meeting

1) First meeting called to order by Judson Mitchell.

2) Motion passed to have the local CUPA meetings no less than twice a year -- said meetings to coincide with system wide televideo HR conferences.

3) Chapter dues of $50.00 will be collected from each member institution. The Secretary/Treasurer is directed to research alternatives for setting up an account where the dues will be placed.

4) The provisions of the bylaws have been met for having election by June of each year through the recent fall elections. New elections will be held in June of 1994.

5) Judson Mitchell will attend the national CUPA meeting in Chicago this coming August. Mr. Mitchell is charged with reporting on the national chapter with special emphasis on the "Business Meeting" and the upcoming "Southwest Regional" Conference. It was noted that CUPA representatives will be in Las Vegas this September reviewing sites for the 1995 Southwest Regional Conference.

6) At the next meeting, Mr. Mitchell and Mr. Brown will report back to the chapter regarding expectations of the local chapter for hosting the regional meeting in 1995.

7) Discussion ensued as to the purpose of the local chapter. The Board members concluded that the purpose of the chapter will be as follows:

a) To update and inform members on current issues with other institutions, as well as the status of legislation coming out of Washington D.C.;

b) To ensure that there will always be a local representative at the national conferences who is charged with reporting back to the local chapter;

c) To share information with members within the state;

d) To promote the Nevada state system with CUPA to include publicizing what we are doing well and providing guidance to other states having similar problems.
