The meeting was called to order by President Thomas Brown and was conducted by videoconference. 53 nomination forms were sent out to the membership and based upon the replies received, Thomas and Judy Sambrano slated these individuals as officers: Debra Olson as President-Elect, Diane Fruth as Secretary / Treasurer and Judy Sambrano as Program Coordinator.
Judy Sambrano reported that dues were outstanding for three Chapter institutions and that the bills for officer plaques had yet to be reflected on the balance sheet for our account. However, the balance after these two items are posted will be approximately $1,600.00.
Thomas thanked all the Chapter membership for their fine assistance with the recently concluded Southwest Regional Conference that was held in Las Vegas. Thomas Brown then turned the meeting over to the new President, Jim German of UNLV. All warmly thanked Thomas for his service to the Chapter as President.
President German outlined some of his objectives for the coming year. These objectives include: expanding communication to all HR offices and their personnel, seek to increase involvement with the region and national in areas of compensation and salary surveys and additional programs for staff.
Judy Sambrano declined her appointment as Program Coordinator. The Chapter then slated Larry Hamilton from UNLV to fill the post.
President German moved into open discussion to solicite ideas for the following year. Here are some of the "brainstorm thoughts" that came up: survey membership, video-conference panel discussions, seminars on national issues like 403(b) audits and I-9 inquiries, how ADA and Workers Comp work together seminar, and free speech issues.
