Nevada CUPA Chapter Meeting
June 19, 1998

In Attendance:

Speaker for June 19th Meeting Confirmed

Dr. Tony Townsend will speak to our Chapter on the topic of "Are You Ready for Virtual Teams." Dr. Townsend, an Assistant Professor of Management at UNLV, recently wrote about this topic in the Society for Human Resource Management publication _HR Magazine_ . Given our shared HRMS, our need to work together across institutions and our reliance on the use of video-conferencing technology, this topic should prove to quite beneficial for our group.

Announcement of 98-99 Officers.

Diane Fruth, President; Robin Freestone, President-Elect; Barbara Glazner, Program Coordinator; and Stephanie Flatt, Secretary/Treasurer.

Robin Freestone, as our new President-Elect will attend the Association Leadership Program in Tempe, Arizona from July 24 - 26. As you know the ALP presents an opportunity for our chapter leader to learn about and contribute to the future of the association, plus meet the other chapter, national, and regional leaders. Lodging, travel, meals, and registration fees are covered by CUPA, at a cost of approximately $875 per person.

98-99 Officers to appoint Nevada Representative to CUPA SouthWestern Region Board of Directors.

This appointment is for July 01, 1998 through June 30, 2000. If interested, send a letter to Diane Fruth.

1998 SW Conference in Tucson ....... reports.

The following folks from Nevada attended the SW Conference: Larry Hamilton, Debra Olson, Stephanie Flatt, Robin Freestone and Marie Mittlestead.

Once again, congratulations to our Nevada Chapter recipient of the Roadrunner Award, Debra Olson.

Stephanie Flatt, was awarded our Chapter grant to attend the conference in Tucson and will speak about her experience at the conference.

2001 Conference in Reno NV ???

The CUPA SouthWestern Board of Directors in showing a strong preference towards Reno or Oklahoma City, OK as the site for the 2001 SW Regional Conference. What does our Chapter think ????

Incorporation Status.

The Nevada Chapter bylaws have been approved by the CUPA SouthWestern Region Board of Directors and have been forwarded to CUPA National for final review and approval. The deadline for Chapters to become incorporated has been extended from June 30, 1998 to December 31, 1998.
