Thomas Brown asked Diana DeSimone to give the group a report on the CUPA Conference that was held in Albuquerque, New Mexico last month.
Diana DeSimone stated that the conference was excellent and that there was a real attempt to bring new members and increase participation on all levels. She explained that she was asked to give a short presentation on the conference to be held in Las Vegas next year and that Thomas Brown had supplied a video and other publicity items to help promote the event. She feels there was a lot of interest in next year's conference.
Thomas Brown reported that the negotiations with the MGM Grand have not been completed yet, but that he expected them to be soon. He also stated that the conference is cheduled to be held during the first week of April, April 2 - 5, 1995, and that he expects approximately 250 people to attend. He suggested that if there is money left over from the "Investigation" seminar, they could possibly offer two or three scholarships to the conference.
A variety of activities to be included in the conference were discussed, i.e. bus people to Hoover Dam, Lake Mead boat ride, dinner dance, golf tournament.
Thomas Brown asked the group to be thinking about activities for the conference that will help hold the group together. He also explained that they need to be looking for sponsors to help finance any of the extra activities that the fees won't cover, and that the local chapter is responsible for registration and for the extra activities in the area.
Diana DeSimone offered that since Las Vegas is putting emphasis on the family, the conference activities should also, and that they should encourage people to bring their whole families.
Thomas Brown stated that after the July CUPA meeting, he would have an idea of who is going to be assigned to which tasks for the Las Vegas conference.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 12:55 p.m.
